Music licensing

Where each track in the library comes from, which ones are safe for monetised video, and where the app tells you.

Not every track in the music library carries the same licence. The library mixes music produced in-house with music from Pixabay, and the difference matters the moment you upload to a platform that runs automated copyright matching.

Screenify labels every track with its source so you never have to guess.

Three kinds of track

BadgeWhere it came fromWhat it means for you
Screenify OriginalProduced in-houseClaim-free. No attribution, no third party able to register a claim against it
PixabayThe Pixabay music catalogueFree to use commercially under the Pixabay License, including without attribution
ImportedA file you added yourselfScreenify makes no claim either way — the licence is whatever you brought

The badge appears next to the track title in the library and in the Music properties panel, and the Export dialog repeats the licence note for whatever is actually on your timeline.

When the difference matters

The Pixabay License permits commercial use, but it does not stop a third party from registering the same recording with a platform's automated matching system. A Pixabay track can still get flagged on YouTube even though you are using it legitimately. Resolving that is a dispute, not a takedown — but it is a dispute you have to file.

Screenify Originals cannot produce that situation, because nobody else holds a registration on them. For anything monetised, or anything you don't want to be chasing after publication, pick an Original.

For an internal demo, a client handoff or a page embed, a Pixabay track is fine and there's a much larger selection of them.

The offline library is all Pixabay

A set of tracks ships inside the app so the music library works before the machine has ever been online. Those are grouped as Corporate, Ambient, Cinematic, Lo-Fi, Upbeat and Electronic, and every one of them is Pixabay-sourced.

The Screenify Originals live in the online catalogue. If you're offline, or you've never opened the library while connected, Originals won't be in the list yet.

The catalogue grows without an app update

Music packs are served rather than bundled, so new ones appear in the library without you updating Screenify. If the selection looks thinner than you expected, open the library while connected and let it load.

Crediting a track

Attribution isn't required for either source. If you want to credit anyway, the library stores the author for every Pixabay track along with a link to its original page, so you can copy the name and point back at the source.

Screenify Originals are credited to Screenify Studio.
