Graphics
Animated templates — lower thirds, stats, flows, cards and end cards — on their own track, over your recording or as an intro and outro.
The Graphics track holds animated templates: a name tag while you introduce yourself, a row of numbers over the dashboard they describe, a set of steps, a pricing card, a closing card with your logo. Each graphic is a small piece of motion design — its text, numbers, icons and panels animate in, hold, and animate out.
Graphics are a Pro feature. On a free account you can add, edit and preview them; exporting a video that contains one asks you to upgrade.
Add a graphic
- Open Graphics in the editor dock.
- Hover a template card to watch its animation.
- Click the card. The graphic lands at the playhead, four seconds long.
Templates are grouped by what they're for — openers, product features, interface moments, numbers, flows, social proof, calls to action — and the search box above the grid matches names and descriptions.
In project at the top of the panel lists every graphic you've added. Click one to jump the playhead to it.
Graphics, text or annotation?
All three put words on screen. Pick by what the words are attached to:
| Graphics | Text | Annotation | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Is | A designed layout — panels, icons, numbers, buttons | One line or block of words | An arrow, label or image |
| Sits on | The screen, above everything | The screen, above everything | The recording — travels with zoom and tilt |
| In a device mockup | On top of the device | On top of the device | Inside the device screen |
| Animated in and out | Yes, each part separately | Yes | No |
So a speaker's name, a headline stat or an end card is a graphic; a plain title is Text; an arrow pointing at a button is an annotation.
Over the recording, or as an intro and outro
Most templates are made to sit on top of your video.
Full-frame templates — the ones that fill the screen, like a launch opener or an end card — can also stand on their own. Hover one of those cards and two buttons appear:
- Intro adds an empty background section before your recording and puts the graphic on it.
- Outro does the same after your recording.
The section shows on the Video track as Intro space or Outro space. It uses your project's background, padding and music, so the opener and the demo read as one video. Remove it with the ✕ on the section.
To add a plain background section without a graphic — for a pause, or for your own title — choose Empty space from the + menu on the timeline.
Theme
At the top of the Graphics panel, Theme sets the colours and fonts of every graphic in the project at once: Screenify, Mono or Ocean. Change it and graphics you've already added follow.
Anything you set on a single graphic overrides the theme for that graphic only.
Change a graphic
Select a graphic on the timeline. The properties panel shows the controls that template actually uses, in up to six groups:
| Group | Controls |
|---|---|
| Content | The words, numbers, list items, icons and images. A template with a list lets you add and remove rows |
| Size & position | Overall size, a nine-point position grid, and Fit into free space |
| Appearance | Accent and panel colour, panel opacity, Frosted glass, corners, inset, spacing, width, border, background dim |
| Typography | Font, text colour, secondary text colour, heading size and weight, body size |
| Shadow | On or off, colour, opacity, blur, offset |
| Motion | Entrance style, speed, stagger between parts, exit duration |
Switch Template at the top of the panel to try a different layout while keeping your timing.
Placement
Pick a point on the position grid, or drag the graphic on the preview.
Fit into free space places the graphic where the recording isn't — the margin around a padded recording, for instance. It works when there's free space to use: no mockup, a 2D frame, or a browser frame. With a 3D device or a photo mockup filling the canvas, the control doesn't apply.
On portrait and square canvases a wide template shrinks to fit the frame instead of running off the edge.
Frosted glass
Templates with a panel can blur whatever is behind it. The blur is part of the export, so the video looks the way the preview does.
New templates
New templates — and whole new groups — are added from time to time and appear in the Graphics panel on their own, with no app update. Open the editor while online and the latest set is there. Graphics you've already added keep working offline, and keep the template exactly as it was when you added it.
From the command line and AI assistants
Graphics are available to the CLI and to AI agents as a graphic effect, so a scripted or agent-driven export can add them without opening the editor. See AI Director.
AI assistants connected through MCP — Claude, Cursor and others — can add graphics in plain words, for example "Put a lower third for Jane Cooper, CEO, at the 2-second mark." An assistant can also write a template of its own; the app checks it before using it, so it follows your theme and fits every canvas shape like a built-in one.
Graphics added from the command line or by an assistant land on the Graphics track, so you can open the project and keep editing them. Exports from the command line include them, with the same motion and look as the app.
