How to Record Arc Browser

Record Arc Browser with clean Spaces and visible sidebar navigation. Guide for feature tutorials, productivity demos, and Boost creation recordings.

When you’d need to record Arc Browser

1

Arc feature tutorials for new users

Record Arc's unique features — Spaces for context switching, sidebar tab management, Boosts for custom CSS, Easels for visual notes. Arc works fundamentally differently from Chrome, and new users need visual guidance.

2

Productivity workflow demos

Record how you organize work in Arc — separate Spaces for work/personal/projects, pinned tabs for daily tools, split view for side-by-side browsing. Arc's workflow features are invisible until someone shows them.

3

Boost creation tutorials

Record how to create Arc Boosts — custom CSS to modify website appearances, inject JS for custom functionality. Show the Boost editor, write the CSS/JS, see the live result on the website.

4

Arc vs Chrome comparison content

Record the same workflows in Arc and Chrome side by side. Show how Arc handles tab management, downloads, developer tools differently. Comparison content drives Arc adoption.

Things to know

  • Arc's sidebar shows all your pinned tabs, Spaces, and folders — personal and work tabs are visible unless separated into Spaces
  • Arc's split view and Little Arc windows create non-standard browser layouts that may confuse viewers used to Chrome/Safari
  • Boosts (custom CSS/JS for websites) modify how sites look — your boosted Gmail may look different from the viewer's
  • Arc's Command Bar (Cmd+T) shows recent tabs and search history as suggestions

Step-by-step

  1. 1

In Screenify Studio, select Window Capture and pick the Arc Browser window.

Arc's sidebar is a key part of the UI — capture the full window to show the sidebar-based tab layout.

  2. 2

Open Arc. Before recording, review your sidebar — pinned tabs show favicons and site names for every page you've pinned. If you have personal tabs (banking, social media, dating apps) pinned in the same Space, switch to a clean Space or create a new one for recording.

  3. 3

Create a dedicated recording Space if needed: right-click the Space switcher at the bottom > New Space. Name it 'Recording' or 'Demo'. Pin only the tabs you'll demonstrate. This keeps personal pinned tabs invisible.

  4. 4

If demonstrating Boosts, note that your Boosts modify how websites look. A viewer's Gmail or Twitter won't look like yours if you have active Boosts. Disable Boosts temporarily or mention them explicitly.

  5. 5

When using the Command Bar (Cmd+T), be aware it suggests recent tabs and search history. Type carefully — previous searches like 'salary negotiation tips' or 'competitors of our startup' may appear as suggestions.

Pro tips

Cursor highlight for sidebar navigation. Arc's sidebar tabs are 24px tall with small favicons. When you click to switch between pinned tabs, Spaces, or folder items, cursor highlight shows exactly which element you're selecting — critical because Arc's sidebar is the entire navigation model.

Use Spaces to isolate recording context. Arc's Spaces feature is perfect for recording — create a clean Space with only the tabs you need. Your personal Space with 30 pinned tabs stays hidden. This is Arc's built-in privacy feature that most users don't realize works for recordings.

Show the Command Bar workflow. Cmd+T in Arc is fundamentally different from Cmd+T in Chrome. It opens a command palette, not just a new tab. Demonstrate: Cmd+T → type a URL, search term, or command. This is Arc's power feature — show it prominently.

Demonstrate split view for productivity tutorials. Arc's split view (drag a tab to the side of the content area) shows two pages side by side. This is unique to Arc and visually impressive in recordings — use it when comparing pages or showing a workflow across two tools.

Common mistakes

Recording in a Space with personal pinned tabs. Your sidebar shows pinned tabs for Gmail, banking, Slack DMs, and social media — all in one Space. Create a separate Space for recording or switch to a Space with only work-relevant pins.

Forgetting about Command Bar history. Cmd+T shows your recent searches and visited sites as autocomplete suggestions. 'salary comparison', 'best vpn for privacy', 'competitors list' — all visible as you type. Clear recent suggestions or type precisely.

Not explaining Arc's UI to new viewers. You assume viewers understand sidebar tabs, Spaces, and the Command Bar. Many viewers use Chrome and have never seen Arc. Briefly explain: 'Arc uses a sidebar instead of a top tab bar — tabs are here, Spaces let me switch contexts, Cmd+T is the command palette.'

Showing Boosted websites without disclosing. You demonstrate a website that you've Boosted with custom CSS. It looks different from the default. Viewers try to follow your tutorial and their website looks different. Mention active Boosts or disable them before recording.
